Nick Bart is a partner with Adler Murphy & McQuillen LLP. He concentrates his practice in the defense
of general and commercial aviation matters. Nick has represented
clients in state and federal courts throughout the United States
and internationally. In addition, Nick has obtained successful
results at trial and before numerous appellate courts. Nick has
litigated a wide variety of cases on issues including complex
product liability, wrongful death, premises liability, contract
disputes, construction litigation, personal injury, defamation, and
civil rights. While at his prior firm, Nick lectured throughout the
country as an instructor on such issues as insurance law and the
preservation of physical evidence following an accident.
In conjunction with his aviation practice, Nick has successfully
defended the interests of numerous airlines, pilots, aircraft
manufacturers, maintenance facilities, fixed base operators, cargo
carriers and component part manufacturers. Representative matters
include defense of a component manufacturer in the crash of a
Mooney M20K near Bradford, PA; defense of an avionics manufacturer
in the crash of Cessna T210J in South America; defense of an
airline following an emergency landing at Washington-Dulles
International Airport; defense of a cargo carrier in the crash of a
Boeing 747 in South America; and defense of an avionics
manufacturer in the mid-air collision of two aircraft in
Europe.
In his commercial litigation and construction practice Nick
defends complex contract disputes and professional liability
claims. Representative matters include defense of a former
employee in various civil and criminal claims arising from alleged
breach of contract theft of trade secrets, and violation of
non-compete restrictions; defense of an architect in allegations of
theft, negligent design, and mismanagement arising from residential
construction project; defense of design professional in claim for
alleged negligence in selection of materials for construction of a
professional football stadium; and defense of a design professional
in claims for alleged negligence in the design of a series of
senior living centers.
Nick is a member of the American Bar Association, Tort Trial and
Insurance Practice Section, the Illinois & Wisconsin Bar
Associations, and the Chicago Bar Association.
Finally, Nick is a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard where
he served as a non-commissioned officer in the infantry from
