Kurt Schlueter is a partner at Adler Murphy & McQuillen LLP.
He concentrates his practice in the defense of general and
commercial aviation matters, including the defense of manufacturers
against wrongful death claims in numerous jurisdictions. Kurt has
handled a wide variety of cases, involving issues that include
complex product liability, premises liability, contract disputes,
non-compete agreements, construction disputes, personal injury, and
defamation.
Kurt has successfully defended the interests of numerous
airlines, pilots, aircraft manufacturers, maintenance facilities,
cargo carriers and component part manufacturers. He has extensive
experience in preparing large, wrongful death cases for trial, and
recently represented a major international airline in a jury trial
of a passenger's personal injury claim. Representative matters
include the defense of a component manufacturer in the crash of a
Mooney M20M in Midlothian, VA; defense of an avionics manufacturer
in the crash of Cessna 172S near Key West, FL; defense of an
airline following an emergency landing at Chicago-O'Hare
International Airport; defense of an international shipping company
following a pilot's fall from aircraft air stairs; and defense of a
military defense contractor regarding alleged employment
discrimination.
Kurt has also successfully defended complex contract disputes
and professional liability claims. Representative matters include
defense of an architectural and engineering firm arising from
construction at Chicago-O'Hare International Airport; defense of a
non-profit foundation arising out of alleged misappropriation of
charity funds; and defense of a former employee in various civil
and criminal claims arising from alleged breach of contract, theft
of trade secrets, and violation of non-compete restrictions.
