John Kelly is a partner at Adler Murphy & McQuillen LLP and concentrates his practice in aviation
litigation, products liability, general transportation litigation,
and commercial litigation. He has represented individuals and
companies in all areas of the aerospace community, including
manufacturers, airlines, maintenance facilities and pilots. John
has appeared in various state and federal jurisdictions throughout
the country and has worked on matters involving foreign courts and
tribunals. He has tried both jury and bench trials to verdict,
obtained early dismissals and summary judgment in numerous venues
and has obtained successful results in a variety of alternative
dispute resolution forums. John has also represented railroads in
various FELA claims, personal injury claims, trespasser claims, and
major railroad crossing accident litigation.
John has written and presented speeches in the aviation law
community on topics such as the use of demonstrative evidence in an
aviation trial, the anatomy of an aviation case through trial,
evidentiary issues in the aviation case, the FAA delegation system
and recent developments in the area of aviation law. He received,
with partner Mike McQuillen, the Outstanding Product Liability
Defense Verdict Award by the Cook County IL Jury Verdict Reporter
(Nov 2017)
John is a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois
State Bar Association, and the Chicago Bar Assosciation.
John grew up and live in the western suburbs of Chicago with his
wife and two daughters.
